A warm 2022 summer brought one of the earliest harvests on record in the Sonoma Coast, with a September heat wave influencing some picking decisions. Cooler pockets of the Sonoma Coast fared well through the heat and the resulting wines offer depth and finesse. Yields were miniscule, with many vineyards breaking records on the low side for cluster weights. The resulting wines have concentrated flavors with tension and length. In 2022 we harvested Wohler Vineyard in multiple passes, fermenting each block separately. We also co-fermented small portions of the steepest ends of the clone 828 and 667 blocks. This lot formed the foundation of the 2022 blend.

Ripe and inviting, offering high-pitched hints of rooibos tea and potpourri out front before its core of juicy red and black cherry compote catches up. Then, everything melds nicely, with a backdrop of sandalwood and iris through the finish. Tilting toward toasty in style overall, this is well-built. Best from 2025 through 2035. 700 cases made.
Pouring a deeper ruby red color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Wohler Vineyard was also raised in 50% new French oak and is perfumed and spicy with aromas of mixed of violets, black cherries, fresh forest, minty herbs, and sweet spice. Generous and approachable, it’s fruity all the way through the palate, with a ripe, easygoing feel, ripe tannins, and a clean finish. It’s going to show its best over the next 7-8 years
